Mediterranean Style Cooking
Mediterranean foods are generally considered to be the cornerstone of a healthy diet. Patterned after the foods from the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, this style of eating includes lots of fruits and vegetables, legumes, whole grain breads, fish and seafood. Come learn how to put together a meal plan based on this style of eating, and then we will prepare and eat a meal together.
Fancy Breads
Are you anticipating holiday entertaining and all the yummy baked treats? Join us at Fieldsmith Farm to learn the secrets to create fancy breads like a pro. We will learn how to work with sweet dough and how to shape it to make Babkas, Braided Loaves, and Cinnamon Twists. Take your own delicious creation to share with family and friends for brunch or tea.
Join us for the holidays to “Get your Party On!”
Do the upcoming holidays fill you with a bit of panic as you try to decide what foods to prepare for your holiday events? Join us in the Fieldsmith Studio to sample and sip our way through festive food and beverage ideas to create memorable gatherings.
We will prepare a variety of holiday foods for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then feast on our creations. You will take home a file of recipes and ideas that will prepare you to be the perfect host or hostess.
Blitz Puff Pastry
Without taking a trip to France-create buttery treats worthy of an afternoon tea in Paris. In this class, we will learn about the different ways to make pastry and what gives it its characteristic flakey layers. Together we will create Napoleon’s, Cheese Twists, Galettes, Turnovers, and Palmier. Everyone will prepare Blitz pastry and will take home delectable treats to share with family and friends.
Pie Class
Are you ready to roll a pie crust you crafted with confidence? Do you have family and friends who could help you devour a warm, homemade pie when you get home from class? Join us in the Fieldsmith Farm studio to learn the basics of making sweet and savory pies.
Cooking with Herbs and Edible Flowers:
Through the ages, Herbs and Edible Flowers have been used in making food palatable, and in doctoring ailments. Today they are a component of healthy diets, and they are used for decorative purposes in homes and gardens.
Join us at Fieldsmith Farm Studio to learn about the culture of herbs, as well as how to grow them and use them in innovative ways. Together, we will prepare several dishes which we will taste for lunch. Each participant will go home with a file folder of recipes and information about how to use herbs and edible flowers to up their game in the kitchen.
Artisan Breadmaking:
Is learning to make homemade bread on your bucket list? Picture your home filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and pretzel rolls.
Join us at Fieldsmith Farm studio to learn the craft of bread-making. Together we will learn how to mix, knead, shape, and bake homemade bread. While our loaves of artisan bread are rising, we will make pretzel buns that will elevate hamburgers and sandwiches to new heights! Each guest will take home a loaf of bread, a few Pretzel buns, and an understanding of ingredients and techniques to craft homemade bread. This class is suitable for cooks of all skill levels.
Bread and Jam Class:
Picture your home filled with the delicious aroma of freshly baked rolls spread with yummy jam. I invite you to Fieldsmith Farm to learn the craft of bread-making along with preserving jams. In this interactive workshop, each guest will make a pan of warm rolls, a pan of cinnamon buns, and a jar of jam to take home from the class. This class is suitable for cooks of all skill levels.
Buy Fresh, Buy Local Produce Box Classes
In partnership with Jon Henry's General Store, we will use fresh, local, and in-season vegetables in new and interesting ways. Come hungry, as we are going to prepare and taste the dishes we prepared for lunch. You will go home with your own box of fresh produce, recipes, and ideas for how to prepare the bounty.
Each week, the produce boxes contain different vegetables. To give you an idea of what the menus might look like, in a May Class, our menu included:

Say Cheese!
Visit Fieldsmith Farm for a hands-on experience mastering the craft of making fresh Ricotta and homemade Mozzarella cheeses. Learn the culture of cheese making and how to prepare fresh cheese at home. Take home cheese you made in class to share in a favorite recipe or cheese platter.
Water Bath Canning: Pickles, Relishes and Salsas
Sun-warmed tomatoes, baskets of squash, and cucumbers galore. Learn how to turn summer's bounty into the jewels of autumn to enjoy as the air turns crisp and the leaves start to fall. Learn which food preservation methods to use to safely turn summer's bounty into savory pickles, colorful relishes, and piquant salsas. Gather with friends in the Fieldsmith Studio to put food in jars with confidence. Learn techniques to pickle like a pro and preserve produce to take home with you to enjoy long after summer has slipped away.
Cooking Basics
Do you like to eat more than you like to cook? Does figuring out what to prepare for dinner fill you with dread? Join us at Fieldsmith Farm to learn some cooking basics, along with some simple entrees to make fixing dinner a success. We will start with some cooking fundamentals, and then prepare and eat dinner together. You will go home with a file folder of recipes and information, along with some newly developed confidence in the kitchen!
